Memorial Day Camping

Yes we actually went camping over Memorial Day to Stoddard Creek Campground and yes it was raining most of the time that we were there.  We did manage to have some great food and great company with Travis, Ryann, Kaylee, Aftyn and Hunter.  As you can see from the pictures we spent a lot of time around the campfire trying to stay warm and dry.  I convinced the girls that we could be pioneers and keep warm like they used to.  We threw some granite rocks into the fireplace, let them get hot, and then we pulled them out of the fire, wrapped them in towels and held them in our hands to keep warm.  Surprisingly they stayed warm for a couple of hours.  I did have a few burnt towels, but at least our hands were warm.  Aftyn asked if she could take it to bed with her, but I think it would have made her sleeping bag pretty black from the fire.  Nevertheless, we did have a good time even though the weather did not cooperate very well.  The sad part is that it is still raining.  It has been a very wet month of June.

  1. Thanks for coming camping with us even though it was wet and extremely cold weather. We braved it and it made us stronger and more grateful for what we have. It was fun to have you and the girls can't wait for Alturas!
